The purpose of this position is providing professional and administrative responsibility in identifying, analyzing, selling, and supporting Business Banking products and services to customers and prospects. Solicits new business and coordinates internal function
to establish the ability to meet customer needs. Exchanges information with customers and staff. Must thoroughly understand relevant legal parameters, internal policy and procedures, FDIC and FFIEC guidance, applicable accounting issues, and the administrative
processes involved in choosing a proper course of action.
• Business Banking Advocate
o Demonstrates a strong understanding of commercial banking products, processes, and risks.
o Follows and understands competitors’ commercial banking offerings.
o Identifies opportunities for the bank to improve Business Banking products and services and submits new product proposals. Assists in the development of short and long term goals, objectives and priorities of business banking functions in support of company’s
strategic and operating objectives.
o Manages relations with 3rd party vendors of Business Banking products and services.
o Works with Area Managers to develop and revise policies and procedures to ensure they meet changing business requirements.
o Participates on teams to identify, develop, deploy, and implement new products and services.
o Work with Market Presidents, Commercial Lenders and Business Development Officer for prospecting opportunities.
• Business Banking Sales
o Demonstrates a strong knowledge of bank’s Business Banking products and services.
o Demonstrates a strong knowledge of business accounting principles, especially payable and receivable systems.
o Understands, identifies opportunities, and explains the benefits of Business Banking products.
o Interviews customers and prospects and obtains information required to perform analysis.
o Analyzes applicant payables and receivables process and financial performance history to recommend effective strategies for cash flow optimization.
o Negotiates pricing to optimize relationship profitability.
o Generates fee income from sales of Business Banking products and services.
o Promotes and cross-sells other bank products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
o Responds to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from large businesses and public funds institutions-responsible for reviewing, evaluating, submitting and presenting the proposals.
o Devises and implements a calling strategy.
• Business Development
o Works with customers referred by staff.
o Identifies and cultivates prospective business customers.
o Follows the local and national news to recognize changes that could impact loan or deposit growth.
o Plays an active role in community by serving on boards, committees, and clubs.
o Plays an active role on social media networks.
o Actively participates in bank Marketing meetings.
• Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

• Participate in Community Service and Bank sponsored activities that serve and support the mission and values of the Bank of the San Juans.

• Complete required bank and BVS training courses within assigned time frame(s).
• Represent Bank of the San Juans in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive “can-do” attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs. Keep work area tidy
and maintain customer privacy. Attends and participates in meetings as required.

Education/Certification: Combination of education and experience equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
Required Knowledge: Knowledge of business accounting principles.
General understanding of commercial loan and deposit services, policies and procedures.
Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards.
Experience Required: Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills.
Professional appearance and attitude.
Strong analytical and financial skills.
Ability to operate related computer applications, and other business equipment including calculators, typewriter, printer, and telephone.
Average typing skills.
Ability to work independently and work well under pressure.
