Satellite Specialist 3

This position performs a variety of activities associated with the analysis of both ground operational systems and spacecraft operational systems. The role will support the following activities:

  • Planning, supporting, and conducting operations for orbital space systems, ballistic missiles, upper stages, launch vehicles, and other special test activities

  • Establishment, implementation, and maintenance of standardized operating procedures

  • Issuance of instructions to and coordination with appropriate elements of Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN), and/or other government organizations

  • Accomplishment of conflict resolution that supports the acquisition, tracking, commanding, control, and telemetry data acquisition for space vehicles

  • Accomplishment of mission data reduction and analysis and data delivery to customers

  • Support of operational transition of satellites to different ground support complexes as required

  • Creation, validation, and compliance with documentation products

  • Implementation of anomaly response plans to include, at a minimum, participation in tiger-team discussions, propose and evaluate recovery actions, and implementation of approved solutions. Further, depending on the anomaly, generate an anomaly report

  • Accomplishment of long-term trending of vehicle telemetry and notification to the government of these trends that indicate potential vehicle problems

  • Accomplishment of real-time evaluation of spacecraft, payload, and ground systems status in accordance with established mission requirements

  • Accomplishment of mission and pre-pass planning, scheduling, orbit analysis and orbit product generation functions, as well as the required coordination to achieve contact success

  • Accomplishment of real-time trend analysis that includes but is not limited to, the identification of anomalous conditions

  • Providing initial troubleshooting of operational problems, assisting in determination of root causes, documentation of these problems, and participates in corrective and prevention activities

  • Issuing commands, directives, and other instructions to fixed, deployable, and mobile-tracking stations within specified timelines

  • Development and implementation of commanding, tracking and telemetry pre-pass tests

  • Conducting post-pass critiques with tracking stations and other real-time support work centers and participates in technical meetings

  • Maintaining of daily activity logs, that provides an accurate summary of operations and maintenance events as well as end-of-mission reports

  • Maintenance of data, historical files and logs of operational support provided, as well as report contact statistics daily

  • Accomplishment of operations testing on Customer Workload assets and Core Operations assets in support of Core System upgrades. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and preparation, operation of the equipment, database validation, performance evaluations and suitability assessments

  • Development and review of test plans and procedures

  • All other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree and 3 years experience in satellite systems operations. In lieu of AS degree, five years of experience in satellite systems operations is required. Specific contract requirements will prevail.

  • An Active TS/SCI with a fully adjudicated CI Scope Poly (CSP) must be in place prior to employment. A Full Scope Poly (FSP) may be requested at a later time, at which point it must be fully adjudicated in order to maintain employment.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Certified operator of DOD and / or NRO Programs

  • Familiar with AFSCN and 22 SOPS scheduling requirements (PAP, SAT, and MOSAT)

  • Experience in operating multiple satellite families is a plus

  • Must be able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation associated with working in a secure environment

  • No relocation funds are available for this position

  • Available to work shifts supporting a 24/7/365 day operation environment
