After School Program Leader – Red Shield Colorado Springs, CO

The Salvation Army is seeking an individual who can be responsible for the children in the Before/After School Kids Program and execute daily program activities. The ultimate goal of the Before/After School Kids Program is for the child placed in our care to

develop a strong sense of family values and experience holistic growth (spiritual, emotional and social) that will result in a recognition of who they are in Christ and will enhance The Salvation Army’s programming. Duties include open communication with parents,

keep current on new programs, develop high quality programs to meet the recreational and educational needs of the community, tutor children with their school work, drop off/pick up children from school in TSA vehicle and transport to Red Shield and to scheduled

field-trips. Works with and reports to the Red Shield Youth Director. This is a part-time position.


Position Qualifications:

 Understand The Salvation Army standards, philosophy and policy with a willingness to adhere to it.

 Have experience working with children must have at least 3 months of fulltime or equivalent part-time satisfactory and verifiable experience with school-age children (letter on letterhead from previous work/volunteer experience)

 Minimally 21 years of age with a valid CO Driver’s License

 In possession of a High school diploma or equivalent

 CPR and first aid training preferred prior to employment

 Ability to communicate effectively with children which will lead to building positive self-esteem and responsibility.

 Ability to handle stressful situations

 Ability to lead a class and do lesson plans: art, cooking, structured gym and physical activities
